There were significant traffic problems in West London this Wednesday morning (19 September) after the A40 was closed westbound near Northolt when a car caught fire.

The police held traffic approaching Argyle Road for safety reasons and eastbound traffic was reduced to one lane.

Westbound tailbacks reached the Hanger Lane Gyratory and Park Royal and traffic is currently queueing eastbound to the Target Roundabout.

Later in the morning one lane in the westbound carriageway but queues continued back to Savoy Circus. The eastbound carriageway was fully reopened but queues continued back to the Polish War Memorial.

Continued congestion in the area into the afternoon was predicted by Transport for London
