The next talk from The Arts Society Chiswick’s October lecture is “The Sculptures of Henry Moore and Anthony Caro”.
It will be given on Thursday, 10 October at POSK at King Street Hammersmith by guide and lecturer Ray Warburton. He will discuss the relationship and respective sculptures of Moore and Caro.
Henry Moore established his unique approach to sculpture becoming a dominant figure in world art. Caro became Moore’s studio assistant but publicly criticised Moore for being a showman and thwarting younger talent. This lecture traces the career of both Moore and Caro, and describes their time together, their falling out, and their respective impacts on modern sculpture.
Ray Warburton has had a life-long love of art. He has studied both Social Sciences and History of Art, this has given him a grounding in evidence-based approaches, which he now uses to ensure his art lectures are well-researched and well-informed. Since 2011, he has been a guide at Tate Britain and Tate Modern, where he leads public tours of all the permanent displays and undertakes exhibition tours.

Doors open at 7pm, as does the private bar with the lecture beginning at 8pm. The Lecture will start at 8pm and guests are very welcome for a payment of £15 on the door.
Membership of the Arts Society Chiswick includes ten expert lectures on the second Thursday of every month (except August and December) and the opportunity to participate in tours, visits, social events and Special Interest Days.
