West Brom loanee Saido Berahino put the bounce back into Brentford on Tuesday eveningat Griffin Park

The England U19 marksman was the difference between the two sides in a fairly pedestrian Tuesday night match.

Berahino's first came just before half time after a scramble in the box following a Jake Bidwell free kick - the young striker showing a goalscorer's instinct that has been sorely lacking this season.

His second came in the 69th minute when he made space to head home a delightful Adam Forshaw cross.

Exeter - who had David Noble sent off for a crude elbow on Harlee Dean - had a couple of half decent chances, both falling to Jamie Cureton who was largely inept in front of goal.

Brentford spent a lot of the second half fannying about whilst 2-0 up but rarely looked threatened by their West Country visitors.

The win puts Brentford on 47 points - with Saturday's visit of Sheffield United a quite tantalising prospect. We will need to play in a higher gear than tonight though in order to gain any points.

Bees - Moore, Thompson, Legge, Dean, Bidwell, McGinn (Saunders), Forshaw, Douglas, Diagouraga, Berahino (Forrester), Alexander (Donaldson)

Unused Bees - Lee, Balkestein

Yeovil 2 - 1 Brentford

Brentford lost 2-1 at Yeovil on Saturday despite dominating the first half

The Bees had gone ahead through a Sam Saunders free kick which appeared to go straight through the wall. Brentford had other chances to stretch their lead, Clayton Donaldson denied at the near post.

After the break though it was a different story and Yeovil started to boss the game. Adam Thompson gave his man too much space and the homes side were rewarded with a thumping equaliser from Mike Williams with Simon Moore well beaten.

Gary Alexander had a goal disallowed for an offsider against Donaldson who had stopped his run to illustrate that he was not intefering with play - the witless linesman however had other ideas.

However Yeovil's desire for three points eventually told when a shocking mix up between Dean and the out-of-sorts Legge allowed Williams to score his second of the afternoon.

The result - plus Notts County's impressive form - probably kisses goodbye to any lingering playoff hopes that Brentford supporters might have.

The Bees arguably missed scrappers Bean and Diagouraga in the middle of the park yesterday although Adam Forshaw did show some nice touches, particularly in the first half. Jake Bidwell's attacking play - and crossing ability - was also notably absent.

Bees - Moore, Thompson (Balkestein), Legge, Dean, Woodman, Saunders (Forrester), Forshaw, Douglas, McGinn, Donaldson (Berahino), Alexander

Unused Bees - Lee, Bidwell
