Sheffield United 2 - 0 Brentford
Brentford lost 2-0 at Sheffield United on Saturday in an underwelming performance at Brammall Lane
Uwe Rosler put the performance down to his players been slightly in awe of the crowd, saying 'It was the first time a lot of my players played in a stadium this big and I think we froze a bit'.
After the fluidity of last weekend's home win over Yeovil this was definitely a case of back down to earth with a bump.
The Bees weathered an early salvo from the hosts and were then reasonably competitive up until half time - although Richard Lee made a great double stop just prior to the interval.
McGinn and Donaldson were replaced at half time by Charlie and Saunders and from this point on we weren't really at the races, with United's dominance of the game resulting in goals for Jordan Slew and Richard Cresswell. The substitutions were apparently tactical but our fluency and threat simply vanished from this point - some of our fringe players simply don't appear to be quite good enough.
Leon Legge was probably our best player on the day - he was particularly commanding in the first half and it was great to have him back fit. That said, Cresswell was a regular thorn in our side due to his sheer strength and, as a team, we were out-muscled and out-thought after the interval.
Lots for Uwe to think about.
Bees - Lee, Logan, Woodman, Legge, Osborne, McGinn (Saunders), Douglas, Reeves, Weston, Donaldson (Macdonald), Alexander (O'Connor)
Unused Bees - Moore, Eger
