Plymouth 2 - Brentford 1
Brentford won 2-1 at Plymouth on Saturdaywith an improved performance.
The Bees took the lead through Marcus Bean who converted when the Plymouth keeper parried a Spillane header from Woodman's set piece.
Plymouth equalised before the interval when Rory Fallon volleyed home his own flick on, Brentford's defenders losing track of the ball.
After the break Brentford put together a sustained period of pressure which finally produced a goal when Charlie Mac converted a Spillane volley from close range.
Brentford played a different formation today - with Myles Weston absent - Sam Saunders playing in a more advance position than Kev, Dave and Bean.
The team seemed 'up for it' today - battling for every ball - and held out for three points despite the odd nervy moment late on.
In the post match press conference Andy Scott reacted badly to recent 'negativity' from supporters. It's good to see some passion from the manager, and let's hope the team sail 'onwards and upwards' from here, but some of the football his team has served up recently has been utter dross.
Fortunately that wasn't the case today.
Brentford, who are now 13th in the table, travel to Colchester on Tuesday night.
Bees - Lee, Woodman, Bean, Osborne. Spillane, Legge, Diagouraga (Hunt 78), Saunders, Kev (Pim 82), Alexander (Simmo 79), Mac
Unused Bees - Hamer,Hudson, Forster, McCracken
