There is a host of opportunities to watch the Coronation or take part in events celebrating the historic event in Wandsworth this weekend.

Big crowds are expected for the big screen live broadcast in Battersea Park of the crowning of King Charles III and Queen Camilla on Saturday .

The ceremony will be shown in Battersea Park, alongside live music and activities, including a Make Your Own Crown workshop for families.

The council has also supported big screen showings at St Nicolas Church, Tooting and St Mary’s and St John the Divine Church, Balham.

On Sunday and Monday, there will be a chance to take part in the Big Lunch in a local park. Bring your own picnic and enjoy family storytelling, workshops and entertainment on Sunday at Woodfield Pavilion on Tooting Common and Furzedown Rec and on Monday at The Skylark Café on Wandsworth Common, Shillington Gardens and Coronation Gardens

Town centre events include a Coronation Celebration at the Ram Quarter, Wandsworth on Saturday from 11am and a family fun day and volunteer village in Church Square, Putney on Monday from noon until 4pm.

Borough libraries will be holding Coronation events all day on Saturday, including family activities, free tea and cake in some, plus a chance to watch the ceremony on TV at Tooting, Putney, Roehampton, Southfields and Northcote. See details.

People will also be celebrating with their neighbours, with residents of 144 streets applying to hold a street party.

Kemi Akinola, cabinet member for the voluntary sector, said, “It’s great that so many people will be celebrating over the long weekend with their friends and neighbours. Please do tag us on social media so we can share the fun with the whole borough."

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We've always done that and won't be changing, in fact we'd like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

If neither of these amounts is suitable for you then contact info@neighbournet.com and we can set up an alternative. All payments are made through a secure web site.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.

If you do support us in this way we'd be interested to hear what kind of articles you would like to see more of on the site – send your suggestions to the editor.

For businesses we offer the chance to be a corporate sponsor of community content on the site. For £30 plus VAT per month you will be the designated sponsor of at least one article a month with your logo appearing if supplied. If there is a specific community group or initiative you'd like to support we can make sure your sponsorship is featured on related content for a one off payment of £50 plus VAT.
