April 9, 2021
The MP for Putney, Fleur Anderson, is stepping down as a councillor, prompting a by-election in Bedford ward in May.
Ms Anderson has been a Labour councillor in Bedford ward for seven years and was elected to parliament in December 2019.
In a video posted on Twitter she said: “I’ve been so proud and honoured to be your local councillor and to be active in my local community and I look forward to working with the new councillor.”
The by-election for Bedford ward will take place on the same day as the Mayoral elections, on 6 May.
The candidates are as follows:
Reeten Banerji – Liberal Democrat Party
David Carlyon – Green Party
Thomas Mytton – Conservative Party
Hannah Stanislaus – Labour Party
On 6 May polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.
Wandsworth Council has said that its election team are working hard to make sure polling stations are as safe as possible to vote at on the day.
If you are feeling unwell you should not vote in person, and can apply to vote by post or by proxy.
The council also advises voters to wear a face covering unless they are exempt, using the hand sanitiser available, observe social distancing and one way systems, and to bring their own pen or pencil.
