The Bridge Alternative Provision Academy in Fulham, part of the TBAP Multi Academy Trust, is celebrating another year of successful GCSE results with 27 learners gaining a total of 120 GCSE passes.

There were 173 examination entries and 64% of learners achieved five or more GCSEs or equivalent. This is 40% higher than the 2013/14 national average for Pupil Referral Units, or PRU, placing The Bridge AP Academy among the best of its kind in the country.

At least one GCSE A* - C or their equivalent was achieved by 56% of learners across TBAP Academies. 95% of learners across TBAP, short for Tri-borough Alternative Provision, Academies achieved at least one GCSE or equivalent, which is 14% higher than the 2013/14 national average for a PRU.

Across the whole TBAP Multi Academy Trust, 61 learners took 421 GCSE examinations and 61% of learners achieved five or more GCSEs or equivalent.

Andre Bailey, head of The Bridge AP Academy said: " I've experienced some exceptionally moving moments as our young people opened the envelopes that would summarise their school experiences and achievements to date.

" Enormous credit must go to the learners and staff at The Bridge AP Academy for an exceptional set of outcomes, with some achieving as many as nine GCSEs and equivalents.

" I must also thank the parents and carers who have supported their children and trusted the school to turn around their educational experiences. All in all, a very satisfying set of results."

The academy and its pupils recently featured in a BBC3 series, Excluded: Kicked Out of School.

Seamus Oates, executive headteacher said: " TBAP's Academies are making remarkable progress, with another year on year improvement in GCSE results. Learners and staff have worked incredibly hard and their efforts have been rewarded. We're very proud of them and join them in celebrating their success."
