|Wood Lane Latest: Travel Chaos Continues on Road, Rail and Tube|
Drivers advised to expect long delays and use alternative routes
This morning's major fire in Wood Lane is causing widespread traffic with roads all around closed, tube stations shut and local buses diverted.
There are also no trains from either London Overground or Southern Trains running through Shepherd's Bush. TfL says the line is suspended between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction and valid tickets are being accepted on London Underground services via any reasonable route. Tickets are also being accepted on London buses between Willesden and Clapham.
Westfield Shopping Centre meanwhile says its car park is open but road closures mean there is currently no access to it.
Road closures are being implemented on the A40 Westway, Wood Lane and adjoining roads.
Traffic on approach to the closure of Wood Lane is slow moving back to Shepherds Bush Green and onto Holland Park Roundabout (Southern Roundabout).
There are also delays due to the diverting traffic on Shepherds Bush Road southbound towards Hammersmith and Hanger Lane Gyratory. Drivers are advised to expect long delays and where possible seek alternative routes.
The blaze started at around 9.30am and London Fire Brigade initally reported that over 50 firefighters and 10 fire engines are engaged in tackling the blaze.
Since then the team has been augmented and by midday London Fire Brigade said 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines were on the scene, north of Westfield shopping centre.
Station Manager Rod Horton who is at the scene says: " The fire is affecting a range of industrial buildings on the dairy site. It’s a challenging and developing incident at the moment and we’re likely to be at the scene for some time."
Fire crews from Hammersmith, North Kensington, Willesden, Kensington, Paddington and Chiswick fire stations are attending the incident.
Nobody has been yet reported as being injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
