A high speed chase involving armed police on Fulham Palace Road on Thursday October 20 ended with the arrest of two men.

The chase, involving a white van ended at 9pm at the top of Fulham Palace Road, close to Hammersmith Broadway and the junction with Chancellors Road, when the van was surrounded by police cars.

Onlookers reported seeing armed officers jump out of cars and smash the window of the van before pinning a suspect against it.

Mike Dilnot, manager of the Distillers pub opposite the scene took the dramatic picture below and tweeted:
" Probably 20+ heavily armed police stopped the white van. They've got one guy in cuffs and some of the police starting to leave area."

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said at 9pm officers stopped a vehicle on Fulham Palace Road and two male occupants were arrested.

A firearm was found and both men were arrested and taken to a west London police station.

Fulham Palace Road was shut off while police dealt with the incident and local buses were diverted.
