Hammersmith and Fulham Police and council officers have carried out a day long blitz on crime and antisocial behaviour in the borough, codenamed Operation Breeze.

The results included seven stop and search warrants executed, 33 bikes security marked, eight cannabis warnings issued and one arrest for handling stolen goods.

Operation Breeze took place on July 24 across various locations in Hammersmith & Fulham. Each team was given a different objective or problem to tackle – ranging from fraudulent blue badge use and dog marking to targeting known offenders and drug use.

37 people were stopped and searched by the Police drugs dogs unit one the day – with one man arrested for handling stolen goods. Eight other people had small quantities of cannabis confiscated and seven people were reported for fare evasion.

Parks Police challenged youths taking drugs in Furnivall Gardens while one woman was stopped from urinating in the bushes and a rough sleeper was found near the Dove Pier and referred on to support services.

On Lyric Square more than 150 residents visited a crime prevention stall to get the latest tips on how to avoid becoming a victim of crime.

Cllr Greg Smith, H&F Council Deputy Leader, said: “We have a range of zero-tolerance tactics to make H&F safer and swoops like Operation Breeze are just one way that we disrupt the criminal minority.

" From local intelligence-gathering crime road shows to extra bobbies on the beat and covert sting operations we are taking the fight to the criminals day in day out."
