Over 1200 people have successfully quit smoking over the past 12 months with the help of the Wandsworth Stop Smoking Service. You are four times more likely to succeed with our help than going it alone. As a result the Stop Smoking Service has tried to make quitting and gaining access to the service as easy as possible. There have been teams of advisors out on the streets talking to smokers and we have run drop in clinics at locations and times that are convenient for smokers. In addition most pharmacists and GP practice nurses have been trained to support smokers to quit.

Mohamed Bhatti, the Stop Smoking Service Manager says “It has been a great year, we have helped more smokers than ever before. To continue this success we will be using for the first time ‘lung age monitors’. These monitors calculate the smoker’s lung age. This gives you an indication as to the damage you may be doing to your lungs as a result of your habit. It’s a great way to motivate people to stop as it really brings home the damage they are doing”
