A series of drop-in clinics is being held to help make sure as many Wandsworth schoolchildren as possible are inoculated against flu.

The borough’s community immunisation team have been in borough schools vaccinating children in years 1, 2 and 3. The catch-up sessions are for people who want their children to get the vaccine, but who missed the school sessions.

An appointment is not necessary, but there may be a wait. Your child does not need to attend if they are booked in for an upcoming school session.

The final session will be held on
December 14 between 3pm and 6.30pm.
At the St John’s Therapy Centre, 162 St John’s Hill, SW11, 1SW
– go to entrance A, and then the first floor reception.

If your child attends a special school and missed their inoculation you will be offered another by the immunisation team at your school.

The children’s flu vaccination comes in the form of a nasal spray. Children aged between 2-4 years can also get their flu vaccine at their GP practice.

Young children, like other at risk groups, are very vulnerable to flu. Children are more likely to spread flu to others, so protecting children from flu helps you to protect your whole family and the wider community

Sonny Angus, who goes to Holy Ghost School, won the council’s Be A Flu Hero poster competition, and his winning entry will go up around the borough to encourage residents to get their children vaccinated.

This is part of a wider push by the council’s public health team to encourage all vulnerable groups, including the over-65s and people with long-term health conditions, to get the flu jab.
