Residents can call HeatStreets on 0800 015 3247 for more information about this scheme and for general energy efficiency advice can contact 0800 512 012.

Ealing Council and Powergen will be helping thousands of households in the borough with free or discounted loft and cavity wall insulation and heating systems through the HeatStreets' scheme starting this week.

The HeatStreets team aim to reduce fuel poverty in Ealing by visiting all private households over the next two years to offer them discounted energy efficiency measures.   These will be free to households that spend more than 10% of their income on fuel bills. Other households will also be able to enjoy huge discounts on insulation.

Councillor John Delaney, Cabinet Member for Streets and Environment, said: " The HeatStreets scheme allows us to pool our budgets with Powergen and help the borough's residents, who need it most, save money on their heating bills.

"We estimate that the scheme could help householders in the borough save nearly three and a half million pounds off their bills over the next 40 years, as well as reduce carbon dioxide levels and help climate change.

Householders will also receive a free benefits health check to ensure they are claiming all the benefits they are entitled to and any other available energy efficient grants.

Nick Horler, Managing Director of Powergen Retail, said: HeatStreets is starting to make a real difference to thousands of homes and families throughout Britain. We're now beginning to see those energy efficiency measures rolled out to real effect in London."
