Tories no longer have majority control of the Council
Ealing Conservatives have lost control of Ealing Council to Labour. Labour took 40 seats to the Conservatives 24. The Liberal Democrats made gains in Elthorne and Southfield and now have 5 councillors. The Council is made up of 23 wards (three councillors in each making 69 seats in total). It had been comfortably Conservative following a by-election in Greenford and the defection of five Southall Labour councillors to the Tories in 2007. Those seats have now been won back and Labour also made gains in East and Central Acton. Until today the council had been split 43 Conservative, 23 Labour and 3 Liberal Democrat.
