Family say elderly lady hit on South Ealing Road
The family of a woman in her eighties who died after an incident on South Ealing Road believe that a cyclists riding on the pavement was responsible for her death. The incident occurred on Friday 11th May as the lady was walking northbound along South Ealing Road, on the South Ealing Station side of the road, towards Sainsbury's. It is alleged the victim was knocked off balance from behind causing her to fall heavily towards the road through a small gap in the railings. She suffered a broken hip, arm and thigh in the fall although she was not hit by any vehicle on the road. A number of people came to her assistance and cared for her until the ambulance arrived to take her to Ealing hospital. Although initially she appeared to be recovering well the lady died a week later. The post mortem showed cause of death to be natural causes. Before she died she was interviewed by the police about the circumstances that led up to her death. She told her family that she believed she had been knocked over by a cyclist who made a muttered apology before cycling away. Police are reviewing CCTV tapes of the area.
