RMT Call Off Pre-Christmas Tube Strike on Central Line | |||
Industrial action over sacked driver and poor industrial relations suspended
The RMT have suspended industrial action on the Central Line due to start this Friday (21 December). The strike which would also have hit services on Saturday, one of the main shopping days before Christmas, was over what the union described as a 'comprehensive breakdown in industrial relations' and a sacked driver. They now say that they are not continuing with the action after London Underground ((LU) management submitted ‘important new evidence’ into the talks process. They accuse management of waiting ten months to provide this information and leaving it ‘right up to the wire’. In a statement the RMT says, “ The company's brinkmanship means that the line has suffered ten months of disruption and discontent as a result of their mismanagement of a highly sensitive case. “ December 20, 2018
