Shepherd's Bush attacker Hussain Osman arrested in Rome

Police investigating the failed London bombings have confirmed that all four of the men believed to be involved are now in custody.

A series of raids today in both London and Rome culminated in a number of arrests which included the three remaining attackers.

The raids started this morning in the Notting Hill and North Kensington areas with two homes in the area surrounded by Police. One of the locations was a short walk from Westbourne Park tube station where one of the suspects was pictured moments before the attack on Shepherd's Bush. The men arrested here are believed to include those who attempted to blow themselves up at the Oval tube and on the number 26 bus in Hackney.

The properties raided are in a Peabody Trust estate in Dalgarno Gardens, North Kensington, where two arrests were made and the Tavistock Road area of Notting Hill, where police arrested one man. Dalgarno Gardens is adjacent to Little Wormwood Scrubs where a discarded rucksack containing explosive material similar to that carried by the four men was found.

At the same time Hussain Osman, a UK citizen of Ethiopian origin, was arrested in Rome. He has been named by the Italian foreign ministry as the man who unsuccessfully tried to blow himself up at Shepherd's Bush.

Officers have also arrested two women at Liverpool Street station.

With the arrest of Yasin Hassan Omar, wanted over the Warren Street Tube attempted attack on Wednesday, all four attackers are now believed to be in custody. Scotland Yard have described Friday as their "best day yet" since 21 July.
