From Spring 2008 a new base for canoeing will start operating from an arch on the Brentford side under Kew Bridge.

The project named Brentford Boating Arch has been funded by St George Ltd, B&Q and Active Ealing. It will be managed by Brentford FC Community Sports Trust. The base will teach canoeing from beginner level to advanced whitewater.

A club will be formed in 2008. All ages and abilities are welcome and they will soon be geared up to teach people with disabilities (with accessible equipment and specially trained coaches.

By 2009 they hope to introduce rowing to the base. From 11th January they are starting a new pool session to teach rolling and canoe polo at Brentford Fountain pool (6.30 - 8pm)
