Since the move to online schooling on Monday 23 March , in response to the Coronavirus outbreak, Putney High School’s doors have remained open to the children of critical key workers from local GDST schools, even through the Easter holidays.

Pupils from Kensington Prep and younger girls from Putney and Wimbledon High Schools have continued coming into school at Putney so that their key worker parents can continue in their essential roles. The girls have been greeted each morning by a rotating team of around 17 volunteer teachers and kitchen staff.

Year 7 pupil Amelia said: "We have our friends at the touch of a button and I would like to thank all of the AMAZING teachers who have stayed behind, during the Coronafest to look after us and keep us entertained. Thanks"

Older pupils have been following their timetabled day of online schooling and enjoying activity sessions from 1-2pm each day, including fitness, tennis, Air track fun, volleyball and badminton. Junior girls have been enjoying fitness sessions with a whole team of PE Staff and numerous other activities throughout the day including Cosmic Yoga.

Year 8 pupil Amelie said: “I found it really fun how we could do a lot of sport in our free time with the P.E. department, and the lunches were great! I’m really grateful for all the teachers and kitchen staff for giving up their time to look after us”.
