Two Views of Heathrow Expansion |

Campaigners present alternative to Governments 'glossy' roadshow
Whilst the Department of Transport (DfT) is taking a 'roadshow' around West London to present their view of Heathrow's proposed expansion, campaigners against the plans have set up their own alternative exhibition. Nic Ferriday, spokesperson for West London Friends of the Earth, said "The voluntary groups are giving their own exhibition because they want the public to know what third runway and Mixed Mode will really mean. The glossy PR and spin of the DfT are skillfully designed to hide the reality." He continued "The DfT displays are misleading in all sorts of ways. They ignore the government's own recently published study which shows that far more people are affected by noise than the government claims. They ignore the health impacts of the extra air pollution. They do not mention the extra danger to people on the ground. And finally, they do not discuss the climate impacts." "We hope that everyone who goes to the DfT exhibitions will also visit the alternative exhibitions. They should know about the reality of Heathrow expansion." The following exhibitions have been organised by HACAN ClearSkies (Heathrow Association for the Control of Aircraft Noise) and NOTRAG, (No Third Runway Group) as alternatives to the government’s proposals for expansion at Heathrow.
