Couples who want to reaffirm their love and commitment to each other can do so at Hounslow Register Office thanks to a new service being offered by Hounslow Council’s Registration Service.

A reaffirmation ceremony gives couples the opportunity to renew their wedding / Civil Partnership vows to mark an anniversary, or other special occasion.

Couples can devise a ceremony of their own, reciting their own words, or alternatively one of our experienced registrars can create one.

The ceremony can be tailored to be as personal as possible with readings and music. Couples are also welcome to bring along Champagne for guests to toast their special day.

Cllr Gerald McGregor, is the Council’s executive lead on legal matters, which includes the Registration Service, said “Whatever your reasons, renewing your vows can strengthen your relationship, rekindle happy memories and bring together families and friends who may not have been around the first time.

“You can leave the ceremony to us and one of our experienced registrars will be happy to help in any way they can, alternatively you might want to compose your own special words to recite, expressing your journey of love and partnership together and a chance to recall some of the happiest moments of your lives together, as well as your hopes and dreams for the future. You might also want your children, friends or family to do special readings accompanied by some music.”

The cost of a reaffirmation ceremony is £125. For this price, couples have use of a room for one hour. The room holds as many as 50 people and a CD player is available. Couples are welcome to bring along a special cake and some Champagne to toast their special day.

There are no legal implications to renewing vows, but couples will be presented with a specially designed certificate as a permanent memento.

Alternatively, if you have a favoured venue in Hounslow, you might be able to a reaffirmations service there. Costs for that will vary, but the Register Office can help people if they choose to do this.
