Football heros and MPs battle it out on the pitch

For the last 20 years, the YMCA on St Mary's Road, just south of Ealing Green, has run a Charity Christmas Card shop. You can choose from a whole range of styles of cards from 35 different charities, and it's a far cry from robins in the snow and Victorian villages (though the odd robin does get through). My favourite was the simple and pretty Christmas Fairy from Breakthrough, the Breast Cancer charity. They also sell 2006 calendars and Advent calendars.

There are three great things about buying your cards here:

  • 100% of the card price goes straight into the coffers of the charities concerned, as the shop is staffed by volunteers (not too late to help out if you're interested)
  • Prices are reasonable
  • There's an excellent choice.

Oh, and you can get a cup of coffee in the cafe too.

The shop opens from now until Tuesday 20th December.

Opening hours

Mon - Sat 10 am - 5.30 pm and

Suns 20th Nov, 27th Nov, 4th, 11th and 18th Dec 12.00 - 4.00 pm.
