A local community group has put on a special performance at the House of Commons in an event hosted by Ann Keen. Trinjan’s play, Preeti was seen by guests including constituents, councillors, local businesses and staff from the Mulberry centre.

The play, which sold out its two shows at the Waterman’s Theatre in April, raised £5,000 for the Mulberry Centre, a charity-funded drop in centre for people diagnosed with cancer at the West Middlesex University Hospital. Preeti is a tale of young Asian men and women looking for love in West London. The comic quirks of dating and family match-making were enthusiastically brought to life by the very talented amateur cast.

Before the performance started, Ann said ‘Trinjan have done wonderful work in Hounslow, raising money for the Mulberry Centre and awareness of important health issues in the community. It’s an honour to have them with us tonight to say thank you for all their hard work.’

Mohinder Dosanjh, the founder and Chair of Trinjan said, 'It has been a wonderful experience to be invited to the House of Commons and given recognition for our work towards the local community by Ann Keen.’

The event was an opportunity to thank Trinjan and help them to keep raising awareness of their activities in the local area. Since being founded in 2004, they have achieved so much – raised over £20,000 for the Mulberry Centre in total and raised awareness of health issues amongst women in Hounslow .
