In an horrific series of events an 83 year old Chiswick woman was killed after being hit by a bus on the Kew Bridge Road.

The incident occured at the north side of Kew Bridge at around 7.00pm on Thursday 27th January.

The victim, Lettice Stuart from Chiswick, was crossing the road when she was in collision with a single-decker bus travelling east. She was thrown forward, and was then hit by a red Ford Puma car travelling along Chiswick High Road towards the junction with Kew Bridge Road.

The car then turned to cross Kew Bridge, unknowingly dragging the victim for approximately a quarter of a mile. The car was eventually flagged down by a member of the public on the south side of the bridge.

Mrs. Stuart was taken by the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service to Charing Cross Hospital suffering multiple injuries. She died at 2pm the following day.

Police are still anxious to trace anybody who may have witnessed the incident. Sgt Mark Drummond said: "We have got a number of witnesses but bearing in mind that it is a busy junction, more people would certainly have seen what happened and we want them to come forward.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call the witness line at Hampton Traffic Garage on 020 8941 9011.
